Bricks

Bricks

Building Resilience, Intelligence in Childhood Knowledge and Skills.

  • This initiative is carried out by Tara Mobile Creches Pune in collaboration with the Goran Grosskoff Family Clinic (GGFC).

  • In December 2024, TMCP got introduced to the living and working conditions of families residing in the brick kiln communities of the Maval region, located approximately 92 kilometres from Pune. The villages of Chandkhed and Darumbre host several brick kiln sites, where migrant workers from regions such as Konkan, Aurangabad, Malegaon, and Yavatmal are employed.

  • At these sites, the entire family—including older children—get involved in brick-making work from early morning until late evening. As a result, young children are left without appropriate care, a nurturing environment, or access to age-appropriate activities. For many of these children, formal education remains out of reach, with only a few able to continue learning in their hometowns.

  • With a deep sense of purpose, we set out to support these children by providing them with basic, child-centered developmental activities.

  • A total of 96 children across five brick kiln sites were engaged daily in interactive play and development sessions. Each child received toys and play materials tailored to their age group. We also conducted sessions to raise awareness about personal hygiene, and distributed hygiene kits to every child.

  • As part of our effort to support their well-being, children received one nutritious laddu each day, and a banana once a week—small steps toward ensuring better nutrition and health.
