A program for holistic development in middle childhood between 8 to 12 years of age.
This program caters to specific needs of adolescent girls and boys in terms of health, nutrition, education and life-skills.
Children attend local corporation schools (morning shift or afternoon shift). Depending upon the school shift, the children attend the centre.
During vacations, we therefore have a larger number of adolescents at the centres
Along with skills to cope with formal education, the focus of this program is on developing a healthy body and a healthy mind.
An increasing number of children are now getting enrolled in schools and being ably supported by their parents in pursuing formal education
Supportive interventions (like transport for school, academic support classes, remedial classes, educational excursions, co-curricular activities like dance, mallakhamb, yoga etc.) are provided to help the children cope with formal education.
Active involvement in the Children’s Parliament (also called the Mitra mandal) helps these adolescents develop decision-making skills and take ownership for their day-to-day responsibilities.
Awareness on Child-rights, gender sensitivity, education on reproductive health, “Saying NO”, “Good touch - Bad Touch” are also important interventions at this age.
A program for holistic development of infants and toddlers between birth to 3 years of age (including supportive interventions for pregnant women & lactating mothers).
